Center for Prevention of Abuse Rebrand and Website
We were approached by the Center for Prevention of Abuse to refresh their brand, including a new logo, tagline, website and promotional items. CFPA has grown from a volunteer-run, rape crisis hotline that started in 1975 , to a highly respected leader in the state working to help all people live free from violence and abuse.
The main challenge we were faced with when concepting this new brand for CFPA was making topics such as sexual assault and human trafficing a little easier to talk about. The brand needed to be friendly and approachable, but still respectable and appropriate for the subject matter. The tagline, “Let’s start the conversation,” is not only friendly and approacable, but also is the first step in getting help for yourself or a loved one. With this theme in mind, we developed the logo and branding system to mimic the “conversatoinal” tone – utilizing speech bubbles as imagery (a very common icon in todays phone-centric world) and keeping the logo type simple and easy to identify. We carried this theme into the rest of their branding, including business cards for CFPA employees that simply say ” Hi, I’m Name” on the front, literally starting the conversation the minute they hand out a card.
CFPA website re-design
After the branding was established, we started on their website. CFPA wanted a website that not only made getting help for yourself or a loved one easy, but also a way for peope to get help right away, especially if they did not have access to a phone.
With that in mind, we designed the website to have two distinct areas when you arrive to the homepage, pointing you in the direction of getting help for yourself or getting help for someone else with one click. The homepage also features a quick escape button to protect individuals who are experiencing abuse, so they can quickly escape the website. Other features include a statistics counter, a donation module, a 24/7 chat feature for individuals who reach out who may be in crisis, and a section about starting the conversation about the services offered at CFPA.
